Bridge House/Grace House
New Orleans, Louisiana/$25,000
Bridge House was founded in 1957 when a group of recovering alcoholics realized that homeless alcoholics and addicts had little chance for recovery. Now housed in three different facilities, Bridge House/Grace House is the largest, free residential substance abuse treatment center in the Greater New Orleans Area with the capacity to treat 215 men and women. During Hurricane Isaac, facilities were subjected to harsh winds and long power outages which left Bridge House/ Grace House with $80,600 damages. Because the damages were spread across five of our properties, they were not enough to make claim on insurance policies. Funding will help repair facilities.

Families Helping Families of Southeast Louisiana
New Orleans, Louisiana/$5,000
FHF of SELA is five years old and was created in July 2007. In today’s society, individuals with developmental disabilities are not given enough resources and information to enter the workforce. Many of these individuals are capable of maintaining a job and a career, but without the right tools they may never find these options or are never given the chance. FHF of SELA will host a Career Symposium where individuals (16+) with disabilities and their families learn about job preparedness and training.

Providence House
Shreveport, Louisiana/$20,000
Providence House is the only Child Development Center (CDC) exclusively for homeless children in the state. Of the 600 children served annually, approximately 50% of them are under the age of 6. This program was created with the awareness that parents are not able to work or further their education without affordable child care, as well as the recognition that children who are or have experienced homelessness typically have severe developmental delays and emotional problems. The program provides an ongoing parent education component aimed to build upon the skills of each parent, teaching them behaviors that promote healthy development of their children.
