The LightHouse Program provides
year round afterschool and
academic programs for at-risk
low income youth in Shreveport
and surrounding areas.
Volunteers of America offers
wrap around services to the
entire family. Studies indicate
that parental involvement is
positively related to academic
achievement and educational
aspirations. When parents are
more informed and have support,
occurrence of abuse and neglect
is reduced. Funding will provide
the resources needed to serve
the most at-risk children. |

CRI provides a systematic method
that addresses the root cause of
deterioration and dysfunction in
society. Some these societal
symptoms are pockets of poverty
among affluence, violent crime,
low educational levels, lack of
employment opportunities and
deteriorating housing. CRI
addresses the root cause of the
problem through caring
relationships established with
the residents in the
neighborhood. CRI is
accomplishing it mission through
multiple comprehensive
community-wide initiatives. |
