Feral Cat Consortium
Madisonville, Louisiana / $8,000
The Feral Cat Consortium has helped spay/neuter homeless cats and adopt kittens since 2003. Our mission is to reduce the breeding and suffering of homeless or free roaming cats in Southeastern Louisiana. The problem we wish to address is the overpopulation of free roaming cats in parishes affected by the 2016 floods. Outside and feral cats have been left behind to breed. Our goal is to best improve the lives of neglected and homeless animals.

Foundation for Woman’s
Baton Rouge, Louisiana / $15,000
In fiscal year 2016, Woman’s cared for 110 women who were sexually assaulted and was designated as the preferred hospital for female sexual assault victims. Sexual assault is physically traumatizing and emotionally devastating. Woman’s responds by providing comfort and compassion in addition to a forensic exam and treatment. Critical evidence collected during the exam can help lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator. Woman’s provides clothing, toiletries and a place to shower. The victim will not be billed.

Teach for America
Baton Rouge, Louisiana / $5,000
At Teach for America, we grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity by enlisting our nation’s most promising future leaders in the effort. We recruit, train, and support a diverse group of leaders who commit to teach for a least two years in public schools. We support them to have a significant impact on their students and encourage them to become lifelong advocates for their students.

Volunteers of America North Louisiana
Shreveport, Louisiana / $15,000
Our community cannot thrive if children do no at least earn a high school diploma. Volunteers of American’s partnership with Communities In Schools has already made tremendous strides in attendance, behavior and course performance goals of the students we serve. The site coordinators have built networks of support to bring needed services to all students and built relationships with the schools and students so problems can be addressed before they escalate to something causing irreparable harm.
