Upland migratory bird species
and others face ongoing habitat
loss and fragmentation in
longleaf pine savanna
ecosystems. Threats include
insufficient fire, brush
encroachment, invasive species,
and landscape fragmentation.
Without a coordinated effort,
the populations of these at-risk
migratory bird species will
continue to decline. Funding
will be used to support the
initial restoration of the
acquired properties using the
latest and most innovative
ecosystem restoration techniques
developed by TNC and other
conservation partners. |
