Community Renewal International, Inc. addresses the loss of the foundation of relationships that form the fabric of community necessary for individual and collective growth and development. CRI’s model consists of 3 comprehensive community-wide initiatives, rebuilding the capacity of the residents to make positive and significant changes in their lives and in their own neighborhoods. Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans, Inc.
New Orleans, Louisiana / $20,000
Children and families facing food and financial hardship are less likely to have a healthy diet or understand the links between diet and health. Louisiana has high rates of chronic disease and diet-related illnesses like diabetes and obesity that could be diminished or even eradicated with healthy, nutrient-dense foods. Second Harvest has been addressing this issue through comprehensive nutrition education for more than a decade, and this year we are looking to expand those efforts even further.

Way Maker Ministries
Harvey, Louisiana / $15,000
Way Maker Ministries is attentive to all needs of those we serve. After leaving the program and moving on to individual living options, there was often no structure in their daily routine and no guidance to move forward in their life. The Cottage is a logical and cost effective approach to providing comprehensive services to those who need housing assistance. This project will increase the annual number women and children served and provide more meals to food-insecure homeless persons across the Metro New Orleans region.
