Local Collaborative
Alliance |
Ribera, New Mexico / $5,000 |
|
The stigma surrounding
behavioral health needs and a
lack of knowledge of available
services often combine to deter
people from seeking support. The
Local Collaborative Alliance is
a grassroots-based tool that
educates the public about
behavioral health services and
how to access them. The
Alliance’s goal is to support
efforts to improve access to
behavioral health services and
improve the experience of
consumers, advocates and
behavioral health providers in
NM. |

nurturing, non-judgmental
volunteers who provide support
for three hours a week for up to
3 months for a family with a new

New Mexico’s graduation rate
ranks the third lowest in the
nation. According to the
Guttmacher Institute, only 38
percent of girls who have a baby
before the age of 18 will earn a
high school diploma. Of those
who drop out of school,
one-third of teen girls cite
pregnancy and parenting as the
primary reason. By helping young
people delay pregnancy through
their adolescence, PPNM’s
medically accurate sex education
programs bolster the ability of
participants to obtain a high
school diploma and continue to
higher education or job
training. |

has limited resources to
maintain the gardens and

organization caring for a public
park among the City’s 68 parks
system, we provide all of the
horticultural care, public
programming, and continue to be
reliable resource for our
community. The Stewards are the

River Source |
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $5,000 |
|
Youth increasingly face pressure
to disconnect from the natural
world and the traditional
knowledge that has helped their
community survive. The project
resists this trend by engaging
youth in outdoors, experiential
learning with help from
community members and
scientists, and job skills
training. Hands-on and
project-based education
effectively increases skills and
improves learning retention.
Older youth will receive job
training assistance in building
resumes and job interviewing. |

Santa Fe Animal Shelter |
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $15,000 |
|
The Santa Fe Animal Shelter
takes in all owner-surrendered
animals in Santa Fe County.
Often, these animals are
difficult to adopt out again due
to their age and misconceptions
about their breed. Our new
community outreach program will
provide families with the
resources and supplies they need
to keep their dogs - an urgently
needed community service. This
program will keep dogs in their
forever homes, and give
low-income families the
resources they need to keep
their best friend. |
