There are 27 endangered species and 100 species of concern found in the longleaf pine ecosystem. Longleaf is dependent on periodic fire that occurs naturally every few years. The reintroduction of controlled fire is essential to promote a functioning longleaf forest and provides numerous benefits for the longleaf pine ecosystem. Two prescribed burning workshops will be presented to approximately 65 landowners. The goals are to develop lifelong students of fire and to educate land managers about longleaf-specific consideration when planning a prescribed burn. |

Louisiana teen birth rates remain high, ranking fifth highest in the country, despite a national teen pregnancy rate that decreased over the past several years. In Louisiana, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast's goal is to deliver education sessions and to increase participants' knowledge of sexual health/healthy relationships, and provide participants with the tools they need to change risky behavior and reduce transmission of STIs and HIV. |
