Council on Alcoholism and Abuse of Northwest Louisiana
Shreveport, Louisiana / $15,000
Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA) offers 14 programs in 3 facilities and on the road in nine parishes providing prevention, education and treatment for substance use disorders. CADA's innovative Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS) Program is already changing the way we help clients stay sober and stay engaged in their recovery. Research demonstrates peer services increase a client's chance of staying clean and sober. CADA plans to make the PRSS program permanent. The goals of CADA's PRSS program are to get people into recovery treatment more quickly, keep them engaged in recovery, and increase the chance of long-term recovery after they are discharged.

Eden House
New Orleans, Louisiana / $30,000
Eden House was founded in 2011 to provide comprehensive and individualized recovery services to victims of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation through a long-term residential program. We create systemic change through youth prevention; education and legislative advocacy; and recovery and reentry services for victims, including long-term shelter. Requests for our services and the placement of victims have increased tremendously. To meet this growing demand, we purchased a second residence and plan to serve an additional eight women by Summer 2021. The next phase in our program emphasizes education, job skills, life skills, and executive decision-making, as well as continued recovery.

The Lighthouse Homeless Shelter
Bastrop, Louisiana / $10,000
The Lighthouse Shelter is a ministry in northeast Louisiana which opened September 28, 2020. We are currently a daytime shelter, open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and hope to open overnight as soon as possible. The duration of this ministry has no end date, as the needs of the local homeless community have been ongoing for many years. We are putting together a team of volunteer community members familiar with homeless needs and services.

NextOp
New Orleans, Louisiana / $5,000
NextOp launched in Louisiana at the end of 2017 to help high performing middle-enlisted veterans translate their exceptional military experience into successful civilian careers. Middle-enlisted service members make up approximately 80% of the transitioning population and statistically struggled more than other ranks in transition. NextOp's mission focuses on this population by providing high-touch career transition services to soon-to-be and newly discharged veterans so that they can avoid employment gaps that often launch families into chronic and undesirable circumstances, impacting their ability to be self-sufficient, contributing citizens.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast
New Orleans, Louisiana / $25,000
The state of Louisiana ranks extremely high among all states in the U.S. in unintended pregnancies and in every category of STD/STIs. The lack of comprehensive sexual education programs can have lasting detrimental effects on the long-term health and well-being of young people. Organizations like Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast that provide comprehensive sexual health education will need support now more than ever to continue to provide critical sexual health education that is proven to reduce risky sexual behavior and transmission of HIV and STIs.
