Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $15,000

Each year many elderly dogs, horses and other animals are abandoned in New Mexico. The public and private shelters struggle to place and care for the more than 135,000 animals received each year. KSAS is helping change the social and cultural attitudes toward aging companion animals. In addition to offering a safe and healthy environment for senior dogs, horses and poultry on site, KSAS has developed a model for animal eldercare for shelters and offers educational programs to increase pet guardian’s knowledge of the complete and natural life cycle and aging process for animals.

Opera West
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $5,000

Opera West is a 5-year-old chamber-opera company. We are placing this opera’s theme location in Mexico to make it more appealing to the local New Mexicans as well. We want to serve the underserved community and make opera accessible to all and including them in our productions. Our goal is to always reach out to include the community and include children and teens whenever possible. We were just awarded 2nd place winner Nationally in The American Prize for the best Opera during Covid.

Aztec Municipal Schools
Aztec, New Mexico / $10,000

The Aztec Municipal School District has been working since the early 20th century to keep the students in our community safe, secure, and fulfilled. Aztec, and a handful of other public school districts in the four corners, are geographically isolated from the rest of New Mexico. This isolation presents a number of challenges for the professional development of local school leaders in their field. At the same time, the Native American, Hispanic, and Anglo rural cultures in our region are an amazing resource that needs to be tapped into for growing strong school leadership in the region and state.
