Resolve |
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $10,000 |
|
Resolve's mission is to prevent violence by building skills and inspiring individuals to be agents of personal, community, and cultural change. By reducing the fear and impact of violence, we help to create a community where people live powerfully, experience freedom, and pursue joy. Resolve teaches violence prevention skills to youth and adults in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Northern New Mexico. Some classes teach the origins of violence and how to set boundaries for healthy relationships; others teach hands-on interpersonal skills and experiential strategies to prevent and stop assault. Resolve reaches individuals and communities through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community groups, as well as classes for the public. |

Santa Fe Playhouse connects the artist with the audience. Through these interactions, the Playhouse engages in dialogue to examine, uplift, challenge, and heal through the visceral art of performance and storytelling. Young Playwrights' Project is offered at no charge to children who lack arts education through the school system. The program has been very successful, especially during the shutdown when schools were closed and kids were forced to do all their learning at home. The Program moved to on-line platform within a month of the shutdown and it provided a much needed creative and social outlet. |

There are a myriad of root causes related to youth suicide. Some of the reasons include poverty / hunger, health disparities, depression, substance abuse, immigration status, discrimination, language access, family violence, childhood abuse and other trauma. These causes have been exacerbated by the pandemic. Sky Center/New Mexico Suicide Intervention Project provides prevention and intervention services to youth and their families that eliminate financial, language, geographical and other barriers that may keep Santa Fe families from getting the help they need during a crisis or obtain preventative information. |

Youth in New Mexico are seeking ways to build bridges within their communities, particularly in this time of deep national division. With intense anger and vitriol in our political arena, and violent protests in the heart of Santa Fe and elsewhere, youth are hungry for opportunities and skills that will cultivate empathy and understanding. Through our initiatives, high school girls from across the state learn about and make friends with their peers from Israel and Palestine, expanding their world views and becoming inspired to take action for social justice and peace on a local level and beyond.

United Way of Santa Fe County |
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $15,000

There is a critical shortage of childcare in Santa Fe County. We believe the answer to filling the shortage lies in building a robust and support system of home-based child care providers. Ensuring equitable access to high quality, affordable childcare for low-income families our community has always been a priority for United Way of Santa Fe County. This year, we are pursuing two parallel, mutually informed strategies: a local programmatic approach and a state-wide policy approach. This year we set a goal of 40 providers and 120 children enrolled in the program.

During the pandemic, youth are confined to the virtual world, lacking physical activity, interaction with their peers, and unable to express creatively through their body. Wise Fool programs engage youth from low-income families, of which 83% are non-white. Financial assistance and scholarships is offered to those who quality. |
